PARTNERS of Great Basin National Heritage Area [1]
As the coordinating entity for the Great Basin National Heritage Area, the Great Basin Heritage Area Partnership implements its mission through "grassroots" public-private partnerships with local individuals and organizations. Congressional designation allows the Great Basin National Heritage Area to receive federal funds that can be leveraged by local entities to conserve, interpret and promote heritage resources.
In National Heritage Areas, local communities and leaders cooperate on efforts to preserve the resources that are important to them. This approach to heritage development involves collaborative planning around themes, industries and/or geographical features that have influenced the region's culture and history. This planning strategy encourages residents, government agencies, non-profit groups and private partners to agree on and prioritize programs and projects that recognize, preserve and celebrate many of America's defining landscapes.
Forming partnerships allows us to leverage the federal funds we receive with local funding and in-kind contributions, greatly increasing the impact of our grant awards. Below is a list of our current partners. If you or your organization would like to partner with the Great Basin Heritage Area Partnership, please contact us at info@greatbasinheritage.org [2] or (775) 234-7171.
